Then I gradually upped it. I didn’t intend to save much that way but instead wanted to establish the habit of regularly saving. Yesterday I saw a good one that I am going to try. In fact I started today because it is a weekly challenge. It is a variation on the 52 week challenge. You save $1 on Sunday, $2 on Monday, etc., saving $28/wk. starting over the next week. You end up saving $1,456 by the end of the year; I believe that is actually $78 more than the 52 week challenge. I am hoping that broken down that way will make it easier to stick to. We shall see! (BTW I ended up saving way more than $1,378 or $1,456 but that was because of a bonus from work!)

That’s great to hear! I’m hoping to do the spare change/dollars one. Saving all your $1 and $5 bills seems like it could add up to a small but good sum!

I did the 52 week savings challenge a few years ago when I was in university. I didn’t finish it (got 3/4ths done) but I really liked doing it! It was a creative way for me to save more.
