I definitely find it helps to turn off notifications, hide the phone, and stop pretending to “multi-task.” I have gotten away from scheduling my day or making ambitious to-do lists since becoming a mother of two, though. I think these are still great tactics, I just need to learn to be more flexible and not get frustrated when things don’t according to plan.

I’m right with you. I constantly have multiple lists going on! I’m actually trying to combine my lists, because I find that I keep one in my phone, one in my agenda, and then a digital list on my calendar, which can get confusing.

Thanks, John! List making is the most helpful to me as well. I tend to get overwhelmed if I don’t take the time to write down what I actually have to do. Sometimes it looks like more or less on paper!

Part of what I hated about working in an office setting was so many things felt like time was being wasted. I’ve found that the same thing can happen when you work from home – it just may be different culprits. :) I do a number of these things but what helps me the most is having a list. I have a list for what I need to do that day and then have one for the week. I get motivated to take things off the list so that typically gets me focused – as long as I stay off of social media. ;)
