It’s the best way for me to make sure that I only get the things that I need. I also cook most of the week. My co-workers think I’m crazy, but I save a lot of money doing that.

As for lunch, we often take leftovers…I really don’t get why didn’t are so against it. I hate food going to waste. I shop at Target for a lot and always use the RedCard/Cartwheel…need to check out Ibotta. Aldi’s is good but not as convenient for me. Ethnic supermarkets have great prices for produce and meat. I guess Costco has good prices too but I can’t stand the lines and don’t like buying in bulk.

For a few bucks, I just buy a tiny bit of topsoil, use a few planters that I found on freecycle, and grow my own strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce. And don’t get me started on fresh herbs!

I didn’t really hit on gift cards much but we love using our Discover cashback for restaurant gift cards. Typically you can get a $50 gift card for $45 or even a $25 gift card for $20. Plus it’s all cash back so the whole thing feels like “bonus money” to us.

I remember reading that your husband doesn’t like leftovers so that’s great that you can get him to eat them one day a week! We are all in on leftovers so we typically only plan dinners throughout the week and that covers off on lunch the next day.
