Thank you for explaining that owning a home can help to improve your credit score and can help to make your eligible for loans in the future. I hope that I can find a good real estate agent in the future so that I can enjoy the benefits that come with owning a home.

ferventfinance If I knew then what I know now, I probably would have held off for a bit before buying a home. Owning has been stressful, but we have tried to make the most of the benefits.

I’m a huge proponent of renting in most situations, but owning does have it’s benefits, specifically in certain geographic regions.

I’m technically not a homeowner of our primary residence since houses are so expensive in NYC. We do own a co-op and I like that my payments contribute to principal and that there are tax incentives. If we were renting a similar size place in the same area, the payments would be about the same so it made sense to own.

Financegirl I agree! Rental properties can be a great way to bring in passive income, which is especially nice to have during retirement years.
