I think part of growing up is realizing that life has twists and turns and you don’t always stay on the path you thought you’d be on (for better and worse). I’m really glad I got a little life experience under my belt before I went to law school, but I know being an attorney wouldn’t make me happy, even if that was my ideal job when I was 18. And I love all your photos!

I wish that everyone could take a few years between high school and college to not only work and save money to pay for college, but to figure yourself out a little bit. The college experience could be so much more valuable and meaningful with a greater sense of self-awareness.

It is very difficult to know where you want to go and what you want to do. I was accepted at all the colleges I applied to, and while I had dreams of going to certain ones, I had to be realistic about the cost. I didn’t attend any of them, but I’m glad things turned out how they did.

And while knowing your career path helps you determine which school is a good fit, most of us also don’t really know what we want to do when we’re 16 either.  It sounds like you were able to figure out the right path for you, which is that really matters. :)

I’d like them to know their options before settling down on something specific.

It can be really difficult to choose a degree and I ended up with one that really wasn’t useful at all, but thankful for the experience as it helped me narrow down what to get my Masters in – which is much more useful.  :)
