When it comes to most Kirkland brand items at Costco, they’re usually manufactured by the name brand anyway and private labeled.

On #7, free entertainment doesn’t have to be home-based either, check out community events such as festivals or movie screenings, they’re usually on the local paper’s website. It’s a way to get out of the house, have fun and still save.

Although not directly mentioned, buying certain items in bulk can actually save a lot on a per-unit basis. My husband and I buy things like paper products at Costco, and save a ton each year that way.

They were free, and usually short, which was easy to fit into the day.

For number 18: I recycle gift cards I know I won’t use by making purchases for other people’s gifts with them. This doesn’t happen often, since most people know that getting me a bookstore or Olive Garden gift card will never go to waste. ;)

I’ve been watching their videos lately. Definitely agree on the shortness – I’ve been trying to do 10-15 minute videos each day. There’s a pretty good chance most people can swing that.

I think that’s an important distinction, too. Leaving that door open makes it a little easier.

I totally agree eating lunch out every day isn’t worth the other sacrifices I’d have to make.

Instead we purchased the Beach Body T25 videos (for the cost of like 2 months of gym membership) and they’ve been a great inexpensive alternative!

I stick with Xhit. (No affiliation, I just really like them.) The shortness of each one means I can do it without stressing my body out. And it’s harder to say you don’t have time for a 10-minute video than a 30-minute one.

And yeah, I think delaying gratification is one of the best ways to save money. For those afraid that frugality means deprivation, they can realize that it’s not always a “no” so much as a “not right now.”
