It definitely pays to shop around just in case. Getting ripped off on insurance isn’t fun.

One of my goals for 2016 is to compare life insurance and sign up ASAP.

I’m not married and I don’t have a kid, but when either of those things happen, I will sign up for both life & umbrella insurance.

I’ve been guilty of sticking with the same auto insurance only because it was much, much cheaper than any other alternative I had at the time. But that may have changed!

I don’t have a need for it at this point, either. Everyone’s situation is going to be different, but it’s at least worth thinking about because many millennials are NOT thinking about insurance, and that in itself is a mistake. They should be aware of the various benefits and choose whether or not to self-insure.
From various studies I’ve seen, most millennials don’t have a positive net worth, and losing possessions would set them back. We always come back to the fact that personal finance is personal for a reason; we have to make decisions that will benefit us the most, but part of that is knowing our options.
