Want to make more money without having to leave your house? Here are 9 ways you can make money straight from your laptop.Who wouldn’t want to make money while in their pajamas?

Whether you want to start side hustling a few hours a week or you plan launch a full-blown home business, it’s never been easier to earn money from the comfort of your own home.

All you need is a laptop, WiFi, and an idea.

Here are 9 ways you can start earning more money from home on your laptop.

1) Sell Household Items

Do you have extra clutter in your home? You can always sell these items for some extra cash.

With sites like Craigslist, OfferUp, and LetGo, you can easily post photos of an item for sale, a brief description, and your asking price. Then you wait for the offers to come in.

I purchase and sell a lot of stuff through these sites, and I’m always amazed at what I am able to sell. Items I would have just tossed aside and considered junk have always sold for much more money than I would have initially thought.

Some people even make full-time businesses out of selling items from their home. They will sell items on eBay or Amazon and ship across the world, essentially operating a mini-warehouse out of their home.

2) Start a Blog

Of course, we think blogging is the best side hustle there is. You can write about what you’re passionate about, meet other bloggers from around the world, and make money while doing it. Blogging does take a lot of work to become profitable, but there are many people out there who earn a full-time, lucrative income through blogging. If you want to make money through blogging, it takes hard work and commitment, but it is very doable.

Here are a few resources if you are interested in starting your own blog:

3) Take Surveys

Taking surveys is a great way to earn a little extra cash while unwinding for the evening or watching television. You likely won’t get rich from taking surveys, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to earn a few bucks here and there.

If you are interested in making money through surveys, check out a few of our favorites:

    4) Write an eBook

Interested in writing your own book? You can create an eBook on your own, without the hassle and cost of publishers.

The easiest way to sell your eBook is on your own website or blog. That way, you can market to your regular blog readers, making it more likely to make a sale.

If you don’t have your own website, however you can use various platforms like Amazon or Blurb to sell your eBook instead. Typically, these platforms charge a listing fee or take a small commission for every sale you make.

    5) Begin Freelance Writing

After I started blogging, I began freelance writing for other blogs. I can’t recommend freelance writing enough. Anyone can be a freelancer writer, so long as you have some basic writing and marketing skills.

    6) Become a Virtual Assistant

The demand for virtual assistants is ever-increasing. A virtual assistant is like an administrative assistant, but they work completely virtually and help with various tasks.

Many virtual assistants I know help to update websites and social media, schedule meetings and travel, answer emails, and more. As a virtual assistant, you can either work for yourself or apply to work with a full-service virtual assistant company, such as Fancy Hands or Zirtual.

    7) Start Your Own Business

If you’ve got a great idea and an entrepreneurial drive, you can always start your own home-based business. I know people who started their own real estate, web design, and even a dog-sitting company and they all work from home a majority of the time.

    8) Sell Homemade Items on Etsy

Passionate about art? You can create your own homemade items in your own home and sell them on a site like Etsy.

The best part of using a platform like Etsy is that your products can show up on their search engine. Potential buyers can simply type in what they are looking for and find and buy your products. Etsy then takes a small commission of every sale.

    9) Work in Social Media

There are thousands of ways to make money through social media. Since the algorithms and platforms are always changing, many companies are happy to hire it out to someone who can update their social media pages regularly.

You can even make money by becoming a social media influencer if you have many followers. Influencers can make money many ways, but most commonly, they make money by sharing a brand with their social media following.

These are all how I got my start into what is now what I do full-time (except for Etsy). Surveys are so easy to bring in a little extra income. One month, I made over $100 in survey money when I was paying off my student loans, it was like Christmas!

    • Rachel says

That’s pretty awesome to make that much with surveys. I haven’t gotten too much into surveys, but I do like taking guest satisfaction surveys from a restaurant or hotel I was at. Often times, they give you a coupon or discount just for your feedback, so I always take advantage.

Awesome list! I’ve tried most of them. I havent written an ebook yet though; definitely something I’d like to do.
